Like many others I chose to study Science at school – in those days in the same column as Art - but still kept an interest in painting as a recreation. Post graduate study reintroduced me to painting and marriage to an architect gave me the opportunity for painting on holiday. Very soon after moving to Ayr, more than 40 years ago, I was introduced to Ayr Art Circle and the chance to use their studio. Influenced by their demonstrations and crit nights I started to paint in oils and have had the chance to exhibit and sell my work with small groups or through the club. I particularly enjoy painting landscapes and flowers.  My style is impressionist with thick paint and sometimes knife work. My paintings are now hanging on walls in Australia, Canada, Germany and the UK.
