Pastel Painting Workshop

On Saturday 8th November, the Art Circle organized a pastel painting workshop, tutored by the talented Joan Lawson, who runs the Robinwood Art School.

​

Joan took us through the composition of a painting, concentrating on outlines and tones in black and white to create cameos of the painting in preparation for the coloured work. She then pre-coloured the pastel paper and painted it with water to form a base. Once dry, the pastel colours were selected before applying them moving from hard to soft pastels and concentrating on laying down the colour without blending.
